Social Media Manager and Content Creator

Responsibilities

Creating a long-lasting pool of photo and video content and a sustainable, tailored social media strategy.

About the role

During the pandemic, Dansfabriken – a dance organisation and studio – lost both members and revenue when they needed to adapt to the new way of living, and in that process losing their main source of income: live shows at the end of each semester.

For a non-profit organisation, focus on social media and profit interest is a lot different than that of an e-commerce business. With only one full-time employee and another part-time managing the business, there isn’t enough time for a clear social media focus. With approval from the board to take me on to assist them for a couple of months, my role therefor became to come up with a sustainable, long-lasting and attainable strategy for the organisations social channels, taking into account Dansfabriken’s needs and resources. This also included building up an image and video bank they can repurpose for years to come.

The main purpose was to strengthen social media presence focusing on quality content, and through that bringing in new members and more sponsors.

Project "En termin på fabriken"

A project I developed during the time working with Dansfabriken was a video series we decided to call “En termin på fabriken”, translating to “A semester at the Factory” (angling the name of Dansfabriken, which translates to The Dance Factory).

We selected three dancers of different ages, styles and backgrounds, to follow through-out the semester, documenting their journey and letting their different stories shine through. The purpose was to show the people within the organisation in a fun way, showing what a semester at Dansfabriken looks like and hopefully inspiring dancers to also see that regardless of age or the number of years you’ve been dancing, you’re always welcome to join.

It truly became even better than I could have imagined. These dancers gave me every little bit of themselves, and we received so much love for the project with each video release on Instagram.

All videos were filmed, directed and edited by me.See a couple of the selected videos from the project below.

Other video content

Another project I did was introduction videos to each dance class that Dansfabriken offers, with a voice over from the dance teacher of that specific class or style.

This, we realised, was particilarly important for the younger groups as well as for dancers finding their way to the organisation for the first time, who are maybe unsure what a class looks like, the kind of dance that style actually is and to get a glimpse of the people there.

Usually when you sign up for a class, you do so through an online form which only specifies the name of the class / style and the date / time. Here, we got to really tell that story more visually and it had a great impact when the application opened for the Spring semester in December.

To the right is a sneak peak at one of the videos created, this one specifically for the dance classes for young kids.
